Family Summer Vacation

Well, we are back from our week long escape from the heat of Vegas. We went up to Grandma and Grandpa Walser's house in Manti, UT for the most part, but we gave them a break and took ourselves up to Heber Valley, UT to take a ride on their historic rail-road.

The ride on the train was.... horrible. The first part the girls were upset and I didn't realize that they were just tired. So was Alexander, but he was better due to the fact that he was excited about the train. I have to add this, that usually we always get people stopping to ask about the girls the whole twin thing, and tell us how beautiful they are and aren't we blessed. Not this time. Not one person talked to us the entire trip, in fact I don't think people were even looking at us. In fact, the seats we sat on in the train were evacuated by an older couple that didn't want to sit by the crying children. Their loss.

The first part of the ride was an hour and the kids all fell asleep, which was a blessing to Adam and I. The second part they were awake and NOT HAPPY! They wanted to get down, or climb on the seats, and be.... toddlers. So, as parents we agreed, we will NOT be doing this again anytime soon. The train ride that is.

After the train ride we headed for Park City, UT. Personally, I haven't been there really for years! I was excited to see how much it had changed and, it had. My parents used to own a time share there when I was a kid. My older brother David took it over and I asked if we might be able to use it for a night. He agreed and it was a fun experience to see things I hadn't seen since I was 12 yrs old. The only problem is, we are all desert rats now and were unprepared for the 60 degree temps. Well, Adam was prepared that is, he brought long sleeve shirts, I didn't. The hotel I figured would be warm and cozy. I was wrong! The heating had not been turned on yet and the pilot light in the fire place, was out. So, about 2-3 hrs later it finally started to warm up! I was wrapped up in extra baby blankets with my slippers on and snuggled up to Adam. The kids thank the Lord were wrapped up in their clothes and blankets and asleep. Eventually, we had a good night and were excited to have the Cinnamon rolls that Adam had baked us for breakfast. Then we packed up again to head out for the fun part of the day.

We got to go to the ZOO! When we were planning this trip I had remembered that the zoo was in Salt Lake and just a short trip through the mountains from Heber, and figured that the kids would LOVE it, so we included it. I am SO glad that we did. The girls are young and we didn't think that they would get much out of it, but as you look at the pictures, we were wrong. They LOVED IT! The only part I had forgotten was that the zoo was set on a hill and we were constantly pushing the stroller up and down big hills, and so that part wasn't fun, but the kids were having such a good time I personally could care less that I was sweating like a pig. If the children hadn't gotten tired I would have kept going. I can't tell you which part was their favorite. They loved the monkeys, elephants, giraffes, rhino, monkeys, birds, you name it, they didn't want to leave any of the exhibits.

Alas, they got tired and we all piled back into the van and took off for grandma and grandpa's house in Manti, UT. Which they loved to be at because they could run around the yard at will, and play with the dogs. They had an awesome time and now cry to go outside here at home. Which, since we don't have grass and the weather is a little different.... they don't care so why should we. We've had a lot of play time outside now and as a mom, its just fun watching your babies learning and exploring.

Here's a "funny" for you. This morning I got up and eventually after breakfast got the kids dressed along with myself, and Alexander comes up to me and says,"Put on make-up now, mommy." I clarified with him if it were me he wanted to put the make-up on, or did he want to put it on. "You, mommy. Make-up." Then I asked him,"Does Mommy look better with make-up on?" He gestured around his eyes and said, "Yes!"

Aren't they precious? I feel SO much better now. If I didn't feel 36, I feel 50 now.
